combine sculpture, painting, design and architecture
Saint Petersburg, Russia - SUPAFORM is a creative studio founded by Maxim Scherbakov working to combine sculpture, painting, design and architecture.
The products developed are an intriguing ensemble of classy and refined aesthetics combined with innovative and modern shapes.
The first work we present is their most recent: the Yalta Chair. Ironically inspired by the luxurious resorts of the Soviet Union, we find a hint of brutalism between its curves and surfaces.
Plantscape was presented at Milan Design Week in 2014 as an experiment on how plants live in a metropolitan environment, their struggle to find enough light, the proper ventilation and amount soil in the urban environment.
Again, the post-Soviet architecture was a big inspiration for the project, where the combination of limestone and brass was widely used.
Sputnik-5 suggests an interesting fusion of two furnishing elements: a coffee table and a planter.
The pyramid protects the leaves of the plant from objects placed on the table and contributes to creating a light and graceful appeal.
This time, the Soviet influence comes from space, more precisely from the very first satellite that was launched in space carrying living creatures and brought them back.
THIS WAS SO GOOD,
